New look, same us.

You'll have seen the new logo by now. Maybe the new website too. What you might not have seen is the year behind it, because that's really what this update is about. Not a new look for its own sake, but a business that outgrew its old one.

Where we started

Nine years ago, this was two contractors, working separately, embedded in other companies' engineering teams as design engineers. No team. No office. No consultancy, not really, just two people learning the trade on someone else's project, figuring out what we'd eventually want to build for ourselves.

That period gave us the fundamentals. It also showed us exactly what was missing from how product development usually got done. But it was a starting point, nothing more.

Where we are now

Nine years on, that starting point is barely recognisable. This year we took on two more people, taking the team to five, with more growth to come. And headcount is the least of it.

We've gone from two engineers helping out on other people's projects to a genuine one-stop shop for product development, taking ideas from concept through to production, not just one slice of that journey. Our skills have broadened. So has our portfolio, and the range of clients we work with. We're no longer tied to one industry; today we move across sectors, and that variety has made us sharper.

Recognising the brand no longer fit

A few months ago, we admitted something to ourselves: the brand didn't work anymore. Tired, and worse, no longer telling the truth about who we'd become. That's an uncomfortable thing to say about something you built with your own hands. But it's not unlike any product we've ever worked on — the first version rarely stays the final one. Good design means revisiting what once worked and asking if it still does. Change isn't a failure of the original. It's evidence of progress.

Our old branding had done its job well. It carried a tagline, "Design Engineering…done differently," which said exactly what we wanted people to know about us back then. We were trying to prove a point, to earn the right to be taken seriously. The branding reflected that energy.

Nine years on, we're not trying to prove that point anymore. Our work does it for us now. Our client list does it. Our team does it. Branding that still felt like it needed to explain itself started to feel like an ill-fitting suit, not broken, just not quite right for where we actually stood.

That feeling crystallised properly after listening to another founder speak candidly about not being afraid to update your brand as your business grows. She described how different her business looked when she started compared to where it stands today, and how that evolution eventually had to be reflected in how the business presented itself to the world. It struck a chord immediately. We recognised the same gap between how we looked and how far we'd actually come, and hearing someone else articulate it so plainly gave us the push to stop putting it off.

A brand that reflects who we are today

So we didn't just touch up the logo. We rethought the whole thing, website included, from the ground up.

The new mark is quieter. Lowercase, uncluttered, confident enough to not need decoration to hold your attention anymore. We dropped the tagline too, on purpose. We're not trying to justify ourselves in a strapline anymore; the work carries that message now. Colour has followed the same instinct: green used to do a lot of the talking, now it's a single small accent, and the whole thing feels calmer for it. Less shouting, more standing still and letting people come to you.

That same instinct runs through the new website. We didn't lead with a wall of services and software lists. We led with people, and with story: how this started back in 2017, out of a frustration two engineers had with how the industry usually worked, and how that grew into the team we are now. Everyone's named. Everyone's background is there. The values sit right alongside the mission, not tucked away as an afterthought.

That's genuinely where the warmth in this rebrand comes from, and it surprised us a little to realise it. It's not in a decorative flourish or a friendly font. It's in showing the team properly, telling the real story, being specific about what we believe. That kind of warmth holds up. It's built from substance, not styling, and it lets us look established without losing the sense that real people are behind the work.

Change isn't a failure of the original. It's evidence of progress.

Why this matters beyond the visuals

It would be easy to write this off as a design exercise: nicer logo, smarter site, job done. But working through it made us think harder about who we are now than we have in years. Every choice, the typeface, the colour balance, whether to keep the tagline, forced us to ask what we actually want people to feel when they come across our name. That's a good question for any business to sit with occasionally. It's an especially good one for a business that's grown this much without ever really stopping to look back.

We didn't set out nine years ago to end up here. We set out to do good work, keep learning, and build something worth being proud of. That this now looks like a genuine consultancy, with a real team, a broad portfolio, and clients across sectors we'd never have predicted, is something we're proud of. Updating the brand felt like the right way to mark that. Not with a big announcement, but with something more lasting: a look that actually fits the business standing behind it.

Looking ahead

We're proud of how far we've come, and genuinely excited for what's next. As the team keeps growing and we push further into being the one-stop partner we set out to be, it's good to know our brand is finally keeping pace with that ambition instead of trailing behind it. If you've worked with us before, we hope this feels like a natural next step rather than a departure. And if this is your first encounter with us, we hope it gives you an honest read on who we are: capable, established, still doing the work that got us here, just with a lot more behind us now.
